Title: Do you Promise?
Pairing: Ben/Riley
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: *evil smile* Yes I own them! But not Angela. She's a bitch.
Summary: Promise: Something that has the effect of an express assurance
A/N: This is uber fluffy and maybe a little out of character...
"Rile-"
"Ben, I swear to god if you're going to try and get out of this one more time I am going to throw you out of this damn car."
"Actually, I was attempting to inform you that you just missed the turn."
"..."
"Are you sure you want to do this," Ben asked looked to the driver's seat, sending a fleeting glance towards his boyfriend.
"No, but I have to," Riley said looking down at his hands, "Everyone knows I'm gay except them. They should know."
"Rye, normally I would completely agree with you but-"
"But, you don't want me to come out to my parents, do you?"
"They're homophobes."
"I'm there son."
"He was my dad."
A wave of realization washed over Riley as it slowly occurred to him why Ben was so nervous. When he had come out to his father, during his mid-teens, his father had kicked him out and cut off all ties. The pair hadn't spoken to each other until thirty years later, when Ben needed the Silence letters.
"Ben, baby look at me," Riley said when his lover wouldn't meet his gaze, "I don't care what they do."
This sentence was enough to force Benjamin's gaze back towards Riley. "I love you. And as long as you promise that every night I can come home to you, I don’t- and won't- care what they do to me. Do you promise?"
"Yes, Rye, Yes."
"I love you." Riley said gazing into Ben's eyes.
"I love you too." Ben mumbled just before their lips connected.
As the two men shared their moment, both realized that they weren't only prepared to suffer through what life threw at them. They could- and would- take it in stride.
