Who can out nerd the other?
1.
At age ten, Riley built his own working Star Trek Command radio; he wore it to school every day until Billy Henderson flushed it, and then his head, down the toilet.
2.
For five years in a row, Ben dressed up as Benjamin Franklin for Halloween, until his mother made him switch to ancient indian chiefs or U. S. presidents.
3.
Riley regularly receives bi-monthly newsletters from the Official Buffy Fan Club.
4.
Ben’s highlight of the year is attending the historians convention held every year at Georgetown University.
5.
Riley would mock Ben about that, except he is still waiting to get his pictures developed from when he went to the latest Heroes Con.
6.
He’ll never admit it, but when Riley knew the fact about Daylight’s Saving, Ben had never been more turned on then at that moment in time.
7.
Every three years, Riley holds the consecutive viewing of the three Original Star Wars at his apartment with his roommates and subsequent members of the Sci-FI Club from M.I.T. in attendance. They never watch the newer Episodes, and to mention them is blasphemy.(Which Ben learned the hard way, the year he was invited; which is also why he is no longer allowed to attend.)
8.
Hanging in Ben's closet, Ben has his own Abe Lincoln costume, authentically created from materials of the time period.
9.
Riley has a model of a cylon from the first Battlestar Galatica, before they made Starbuck into a girl.
10.
Ben has a house that is historically significant, as is the majority of his furniture, except for the stuff Riley picked out from IKEA, which Ben plans to accidentally destroy as soon as possible.
But he knows he’s completely lost when what he looks forward to in his week is Saturday; because Riley doesn’t work on Saturday, instead he crawls out of bed in boxers that have computer coding scribbled across them and a worn thin snarky t-shirt, he makes a ridiculously large bowl of cereal and camps out on Ben’s two-hundred year old couch to watch repeats of Dr. Who, ranting at the Doctor and his Companions. And how Ben knows he’s completely lost, is that now he doesn’t work on Saturday either, instead he climbs out of bed (in pajama pants with scrolls decorating them), grabs a spoon from the kitchen and helps Riley devourer the bowl of cereal, despite still not understanding why ‘The Doctor’ is continually a different actor.
